Will I have to take all my clothes off?
No. It is commonly accepted and standard for recipients to disrobe to their level of comfort. Most undress to underwear. This allows for a higher quality of work, as manipulating musculature and connective tissue can become trickier to access through jeans.
Will I be underneath a blanket during the massage?
Yes. I will un-drape particular areas of the body as they are being worked as not to cause discomfort or leave unwanted areas vulnerable.
How do I communicate what I need?
I would consider myself easy to talk to. I will periodically check in with you to make sure everything is okay without it taking away from the massage. Any information that can improve your treatment is very important to me and from the moment you walk in the door I will do my best to practice clear & easy communication. I will not take any offense to you speaking or commenting during the massage.
Should I make conversation during the massage?
Some people prefer to talk throughout the massage as a means of conversation and de-stressing. It is common not to speak during a massage, particularly a relaxation-based one. Conversation is however, just fine. for some, that is how they relax. Typically Massage Therapists are trained not to create conversation, but respond if spoken to. I follow this and agree with it. In massage such as Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Stretching, or in Hot Stone, there are extra layers of communication, and sometimes teamwork is required.
What if I fall asleep, drool, or pass gas?
There is no judgement in any of this work. All of these things are to some level at one point or another, the goal! They all signify deep healing and release. In other words, a successful treatment.
Should I tip the massage therapist?
Although a tip is never required, a 20% tip is standard if you were pleased with the service. If you were given a gift certificate, a tip is usually included in the purchase by the gift giver.
